The Junk Lifters ("we", "us") is a family-run junk removal business based in Mississauga, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how we protect it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
We only collect what we need to quote and do your job:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- The address or city where the job is
- A description of the items to be removed, and any photos you send us
- Your preferred date and any notes you give us
- Payment records for jobs we complete
We collect this when you fill out our quote form, call, text, email or message us on social media.
Why we collect it
- To give you a quote and schedule your job
- To contact you about your job, including confirmations and follow-ups
- To issue invoices and receipts and keep the business records the law requires
- To ask for a review after your job, if you're happy to give one
We will not send you promotional emails or texts unless you tell us you want them. If you do sign up, you can opt out any time by replying STOP or asking us.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we use to run the business, and only as much as they need:
- Our website host, which receives quote form submissions
- Our email and phone providers
- Our accountant and payment processors, for billing and tax records
- Our insurer, if there is ever a claim related to your job
Some of these providers may store data outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Photos of your job
We sometimes take before and after photos of the space we cleared. We will only post a photo of your property online with your permission, and we never post house numbers, licence plates or people's faces without consent.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests that don't turn into jobs for up to 12 months. We keep records of completed jobs and payments for as long as Canadian tax law requires, which is generally six years. After that, we delete or destroy them.
How we protect it
Our accounts are password protected with two-factor authentication, and only the owners of the business can access customer information.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy before we start.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it, unless we're required by law to keep it. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
